40 Days of Prayer
   March 20, 2004

We Must Do What Jesus said!
(part 3)

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
Therefore, beseech the Lord of the harvest
to send out workers into His harvest.
( Matt 9:37-38)

Pray that He will…SEND OUT workers.

The work of the harvest requires a sense of being sent. If we run recklessly into the harvest, we will not see things correctly. We may think, “We cause the harvest; we control the harvest; we can take credit for the harvest!”

No, we can’t think that way! Working in God’s field requires a proper understanding of Who He is, how He works and how He sends!

Just a few verses earlier the Scripture says that Jesus “cast out” demons. The word in the original text is a compound word that looks like this: “ek-ballo” (“ek” = “out of”) + (“ballo” = “to cast or throw”). We have no trouble visualizing this when it says He “cast out” the demons.

However, it is hard for us to imagine that the same Greek word is used when it says He “sends out” laborers. Look at it this way:

· He purposefully cast out the demons--sending them from a place they didn’t belong to a place they did belong.

· He purposefully SENDS OUT His workers—sending them to the specific place that He has in mind. Like a professional dart thrower hitting the specific place on the target!

Being SENT by God is not random. Being sent by God is very purposeful. ALL of us are being sent! And the knowledge that He is sending you is priceless.

To be used of God, in His harvest, we need a sense of Divine appointment, Divine preparation and Divine empowerment.

Do you think He is preparing a person for you to tell about Jesus? Do you believe He is going before you to prepare His harvest? Are you looking for the Divine appointment He has planned for you?

You don’t have to be the last link in the chain (the harvester). But, don’t be the missing link.

Father,
I report for duty. Send me to the specific person You have in mind.

Give me a sense of Your preparation. Thrust me into the prepared place in Your harvest.

I pray in Jesus’ Name, Amen
